Founder of Sidak Sandhu Law Professional Corporation, Sidak is a Barrister & Solicitor licensed by the Law Society of Ontario. An internationally trained lawyer, she graduated from Panjab University — one of India’s most prestigious law schools — and completed post-graduate study in Alternative Dispute Resolution at Humber College.
Her practice is rooted in a belief that clients deserve more than procedure — they deserve composure, clarity, and representation tailored to the particulars of their lives. She serves clients in Punjabi, Hindi, and English, and is known for thoughtful strategy on matters others consider intractable.
Proudly serving Ottawa’s Indian & South Asian community
Every engagement begins with listening. From there, a plan takes shape — one that is honest about cost, candid about risk, and deliberate in every step.
A confidential conversation to understand your matter, the outcome you’re seeking, and the particulars that shape your circumstances.
A clear plan with defined steps, transparent fees, and an honest assessment of risk — reviewed with you before work begins.
Careful execution, proactive communication at every milestone, and considered counsel through to resolution.
The measure of our work is whether clients return when life changes again, and whether they send the people they care about. We are grateful that they do.
Sidak handled my Express Entry application end to end. She walked me through every form in Punjabi, answered late-night messages, and got my PR within seven months. I have already referred three friends.
We bought our first home in Barrhaven and were anxious about the closing. Sidak reviewed every page of the agreement, caught two title issues, and kept us calm. Closing day felt like a formality because of her.
Going through a separation was the hardest year of my life. Sidak gave me realistic advice, never pushed me toward unnecessary court time, and the agreement she drafted has held up perfectly.
Sidak prepared our wills, powers of attorney, and our daughter’s guardianship designation. The whole package was flat-fee with no surprises, and she explained every clause in plain language.
Buying property in Ontario? Every buyer pays Land Transfer Tax on closing — and Toronto adds a second Municipal tax. Estimate what you’ll owe, and whether you qualify for the first-time buyer rebate.
Estimates based on 2024 published rates. Single-family residential assumed. Rebates require eligibility. Not legal or tax advice — confirm exact amounts with your lawyer before closing.
Commissioning of oaths, statutory declarations, affidavits, and certified true copies — by appointment at our Ottawa office.
Straightforward answers to the questions we hear most often. For anything specific to your matter, please book a consultation.
Initial consultations are offered at a flat, transparent rate that is communicated when you book. The full fee is credited toward your retainer if you proceed with our representation. We do not charge for brief enquiries that do not require legal analysis.
Yes. Sidak personally provides counsel in Punjabi, Hindi, and English. All written documentation is prepared in English to satisfy court and registry requirements, but every meeting, phone call, and explanation can be conducted in your preferred language.
You will receive an automatic acknowledgement within minutes, and a personal response from Sidak within one business day. Time-sensitive matters — closings within 48 hours, deportation orders, and emergency injunctions — receive priority response, typically within hours.
Express Entry and PNP applications, spousal and family sponsorship, work and study permits, post-graduation work permits, citizenship applications, and refusal/appeals. We do not currently handle refugee claims or detention reviews; for those matters we will refer you to a trusted colleague.
Yes. Most residential closings in Ontario can be completed entirely by video conference and electronic signature. We coordinate with your lender, real estate agent, and the seller’s lawyer so you do not need to travel to our office. In-person closings remain available by request.
We use flat fees for predictable matters such as real estate closings, will preparation, simple incorporations, and most immigration applications. For litigation, family disputes, or complex estate work where scope is uncertain, we work on hourly billing with a clear retainer and itemised invoicing. You will always have a written fee agreement before work begins.
For immigration matters, we represent clients across Canada and internationally. For Ontario-specific work — real estate, wills, family law, business law — we serve clients throughout Ottawa, the National Capital Region, and Eastern Ontario. Out-of-province clients with Ontario matters are also welcome.
Consultations are scheduled in person at our Ottawa office or by video. Reach us by phone, email, or the form — we respond within one business day.
